[S13] De verschillende stages uitgelegd

The S13 Stage 1 ECU upgrade chip is designed to optimise the fuelling and ignition for an S13 with the following modifications:

Free flow air filter

Free flow exhaust

Boost controller to achieve 15psi boost pressure

Uprated fuel pump

Super unleaded fuel (>97 RON)

Optional:

Front mount intercooler

The chip removes the fuel cut and, in conjunction with the upgrades above, will allow the engine to produce around 230bhp.

 

 

 

The red lines show the car with a standard chip at 10psi boost pressure. One line shows the torque, the other shows the power. Peak power is 188bhp @ 5918rpm and peak torque is at 173lb ft @ 5471rpm

The blue lines show car with a Stage 1 chip at 15psi boost pressure. Again the lines show torque and power: 212bhp @ 5750rpm and 201lb ft @ 3461rpm. Notice the huge gain in torque, up 63%, in the mid range (~3500rpm) and the much lower rpm of the peak torque. Also the peak power is up 13%. The extra power and torque comes from the boost upgrade, the Stage 1 chip optimises fueling and ignition timing for this setup. You could not get this power and torque increase without an ECU chip upgrade.

 

 

 

The S13 Stage 2 ECU upgrade chip is designed to optimise the fuelling and ignition for an S13 with the following modifications:

Free flow air filter

Free flow exhaust

Boost controller to achieve 15psi boost pressure

Uprated intercooler

T28 turbo from an S14 200SX

Super unleaded fuel (>97 RON)

Uprated fuel pump

The chip removes the fuel cut and, in conjunction with the upgrades above, will allow the engine to produce up to 270bhp.

The stage 2 chip instructs the ECU to deliver more fuel to the engine under high boost. It also retards the ignition a little more than the stage 1 chip. This prevents detonation when running high boost levels.

The graph below shows the power output from a car with the modifications listed above

 

 

 

The graph shows power at the wheels (blue), power lost through the transmission and tyres (green) and calculated power at the flywheel. This car made 264bhp @ only 14psi of boost, the increase in performance comes from the modifications to the engine. More power could be liberated with a higher flow intercooler and more boost pressure. The Stage 2 chip optimises fuelling and ignition timing to take best advantage of the modifications.

 

 

 

The stage 3 chip is designed to optimise the fuelling and ignition for an S13 with the following modifications:

Free flow air filter

Free flow exhaust

Boost controller to achieve 17psi boost pressure

Uprated intercooler

T28 hybrid turbo

Uprated fuel pump

444cc injectors from a GTiR (SR20DET engine) or Skyline (RB26DETT engine)

Z32 AFM

Super unleaded fuel (>97 RON)

The chip removes the fuel cut and, in conjunction with the upgrades above, will allow the engine to produce in excess of 300bhp.

The stage 3 chip will only work with 444cc injectors and a Z32 (300ZX) air flow meter (AFM).

 

 

 

please bear in mind that this power run was done in 43 deg C air temps!
